Emil Kazaz received Sts. Sahag and Mesrob Medal from the Primate

On Saturday, November 7, the AGBU Los Angeles Chapter organized an evening dedicated to the talented artist Emil Kazaz at the Alex Manoogian Center in Pasadena.

The program commenced with the opening remarks by “AGBU Kazaz Tribute” Committee Chairman Haig Messerlian. Ivan Kesian, Tamar Sinanian, Benjamin Charchian, Aleen Khanjian, Ari Libaridian and Ara Babayan presented the speakers and artists.

A special lecture was presented by Joe Lewis. Concert pianist Vatche Mankerian played Chaconne – Bach, Busoni. Shahen Khachatryan followed with another lecture. Operatic tenor Bakur Kalantaryan accompanied by Victoria Simonyan presented musical pieces by Giuseppe Giordani and Enrico Cannio.

Certificates of appreciation were awarded by Sinan Sinanian, member of AGBU Central Board of Directors and Berj Shahbazian, Chairman of AGBU Southern California District.

The internationally acclaimed artworks of Emil Kazaz were displayed from November 5-7, 2009. More than a thousand lovers of art attended the exhibit.

Acknowledging the well-known sculptor and painter, the Primate commended the works of Emil Kaziz and on behalf of His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians awarded the artist with Sts. Sahag and Mesrob Medal.
